Lincoln Square Mural Project 2026

Celebrating Art, Creativity, and Community

The Lincoln Square Mural Project 2026 brought together art, creativity, and community participation in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood.

Artists Mario Rodriguez and Nino “Tsel One” Rodriguez worked together on the Lincoln Square Mural Project, transforming a public space beneath the Brown Line into a colorful celebration of neighborhood art. Community volunteers joined in bringing the mural to life.

About the Project

The Lincoln Square Mural Project 2026 celebrates the people, cultures, history, and landmarks that make Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood unique.

The mural incorporates recognizable neighborhood features, including the historic Davis Theater and the Lincoln Square sign, alongside Chicago landmarks and symbols such as the city skyline, flag, and elevated train. Animal imagery representing countries and cultures connected to Lincoln Square's diverse residents adds another layer of meaning to the artwork.

Created by artists Mario Rodriguez and Nino “Tsel One” Rodriguez, the mural was painted on the south-facing wall of the Lincoln Square Athletic Club's main building, beneath the CTA Brown Line elevated tracks.

The creative process began with developing the mural design and laying out its outlines. Community volunteers then helped paint many of the sections. Following the volunteer painting sessions, the artists completed the finishing details, bringing the individual elements together into the completed mural.

Project Acknowledgements

The Lincoln Square Mural Project 2026 was made possible through grant funding provided by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) to Mario Rodriguez with Nino Rodriguez serving as lead artist. We also acknowledge the assistance of the 47th Ward alderman in identifying the mural location, the Lincoln Square Athletic Club for providing the wall, and the community volunteers whose participation helped bring the project to life.
